Continuing our trip of Thailand, we chose to stop off at Khao Lak on the journey from Krabi to Phuket. Khao Lak is located about an hour’s drive north of Phuket and is effectively a cluster of beach resorts surrounding a main road lined with restaurants and stalls. It’s very much a laid-back beach-resort location, and probably not somewhere to stay if you have limited time in Thailand and want to soak up the culture.
The area is, however, home to stunning hotels such as the JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort & Spa. There are a few Khao Lak resorts but this one is true paradise with amazing beach access.
Khao Lak is just to the left of the Khao Lak-Lak Ru National Park and consequently, miles of soft sand sit in front of tall palms and lush jungle. As with most hotels in Thailand, the JW Marriott offered us amazing value for money.
The grounds of JW Marriott Khao Lak are stunning and full of greenery. It’s hard to escape the 3.2km pool (the largest in South-East Asia!) which runs round the outer rim of the resort as a kind of lazy river. Meeting in the middle, the pool branches out into wider sections with a swim-up pool bar and spa jet loungers.
At the edge of the pool is a stunning stretch of beach fringed with towering palm trees. During our entire stay we did not see anyone else on the beach, on either side, for miles. This resort is honestly so beautiful.
We stayed at the resort for a week; the complex is huge and features some great restaurants. This is a perfect honeymoon or getaway location and I’m so happy we stumbled across it and cut our schedule in Phuket slightly short to come here.
I probably spend slightly too much time at work daydreaming about this beach in Khao Lak! I hope I’ve provided some holiday inspiration for everyone. Follow the link if you’d like to find out more about JW Marriott Khao Lak!
Pin for later..
